Mutual interactions between collection conservation and the environment have been at the core of the research programme from the outset. The research activity for our 2023-2025 programme will have to tackle new energy efficiency and sustainable development challenges. The studies expected of the great technical systems renewal work at the Palace of Versailles, as well as a convergence of interest from European governments and the Network’s member institutions in the effects of climate change on cultural heritage have led us to develop concrete responses to this problem.

Since the beginning of 2023, new assessments have been carried out in the European palace-museums that are partners in the programme, with the aim of disseminating the EPICO method throughout Europe and further analyzing the interactions between the conservation of collections, their immediate environment and climate change.

These two days will be an opportunity to bring together professionals from palace-museums, scientists from research institutes in heritage sciences as well as representatives of governance bodies to debate these themes and present the orientations of national and European public policies .

This seminar aims to open a space for transdisciplinary dialogue and to promote technical, scientific and political exchanges which will result in the creation of a first “dashboard” bringing together possible directions and solutions.

The first day, which will take place at the Château de Chantilly, will be devoted to technical and scientific subjects and to an in-person exchange workshop. On the second day, at the Palace of Versailles, participants will discuss national and European orientations in terms of public policies, research and innovation.
